Punjab advance in National Women’s Volleyball

Defending champions WAPDA, Punjab, HEC and FATA thrashed their opponents in the first round of the 10th National Women Volleyball Championship here at Hamidi Hall, Pakistan Sports Complex on Tuesday.
In the first match WAPDA outclassed KP 3-0. In the first set WAPDA’s ace spikers showed excellent display and finished the first game at 25-09. In the second and third sets of the match WAPDA players changed their strategy and used different quick combinations to leave their opponents helpless in block and defence to win the sets 25-9 and 25-6.
Punjab thrashed Balochistan in the straight games to claim victory 3-0. Punjab remained in commanding position throughout the contest and did not allow their rivals to settle and won the match by 25-5, 25-2 and 25-7. In the other matches of the day, Higher Education (HEC) outclassed FATA in straight sets 25-4, 25-5 and 25-7 while FATA overpowered Balochistan 25-23, 25-16 and 25-15.
Federal Education Board Chairperson Dr. Shaheen Khan was the chief guest of the opening ceremony while PVF Secretary Major (R) Muhammad Afzal, PSB Director General Dr. Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera, Pakistan Kabaddi Federation Secretary Ch. Muhammad Sarwar, Wrestling Secretary Ch. Muhammad Asgahar, KP Volleyball Association President Muhammad Iqbal Khan and officials of PSB were also present on the occasion.

HEC v Punjab (08:00), KP v Islamabad (09:00), FATA v Punjab (10:00), Balochistan v HEC (12:00) and WAPDA v Islamabad (13:00).
