Police allegedly shot a father of three children dead during his arrest in Pasrur area of Daska.
The deceased, 25-year-old Shahid, was a labourer and used to toil hard to feed his family.
The police accused him of stealing a cell phone that was recovered from his possession, his family said, adding that Shahid had bought that phone for Rs 1,000.
The police did not hand over the body to the heirs and the relatives of the deceased, who staged a protest and surrounded the Pasrur Police Station, vowing not to leave till the dead body was not handed over to them.
The police higher authorities have taken notice of the matter and confirmed, after initial investigation, that marks of torture were found over the body of the deceased.
A case has been registered against police official, including the station house officer of Psrur Police Station, all of whom have been arrested.
