Hamdard University confers degrees on 200 students

Hamdard University awarded degrees to over 200 students upon completion of their studies on Tuesday. The 8th degree-awarding ceremony of the university was held here at Quaid-e-Azam Hall of International Islamic University. Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Liu Jian was the chief guest on the occasion and he conferred degrees on successful students. Hamdard University Chancellor Senator SM Zafar, a large number of students, parents, and teachers attended the ceremony. Speaking on the occasion, the Chinese ambassador said, “Knowledge that you have acquired will help you to seek out new horizons and opportunities with confidence.” The degrees were awarded to 204 students. Ninety-four degrees were conferred on students of Management Science, 40 on students of Engineering & Technology and 70 on students of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The university also awarded gold medals to five brilliant students: Syed Shair Ali Shah Bukhari and Sundas Ansar in Pharmacy, Muhammad Najeeb in Telecommunication Engineering, Shama Wahid in Management Sciences and Kamran Khushnood in Electronics Engineering. Senator SM Zafar said: “We need books not bullets. Our rulers ignored education and even today what we are spending on education is less than two percent of GDP. The result is ignorance, intolerance, lawlessness and terrorism.” Hamdard Foundation President Sadia Rashid, Hamdard University Director General Prof Dr Nasim A Khan, and Prof Dr Nazir Ahmed spoke on the occasion.
