Collapse of governance

Will the politicians and parliamentarians in Sindh focus their attention on the total failure of law and order in Karachi, where almost 17 people are dying daily? Whenever Sindh Minister for Information appears on television talk shows and is asked any question relating to prevailing ruthless killings, the minister starts diversion tactics and like a parrot repeats his barrage of attack on Punjab and PML(N) leadership.

Does he not realise that the government of which he is a part of, has failed to protect the lives and property of Karachi citizens, which has become hostage to pirates, who have taken the law in their hand? Why should there be no-go areas in Karachi and why do political parties retain armed gangs who have become habitual killers and land grabbers?

The politics of violence which has consumed over 1400 innocent citizens in Karachi this year is unique to this city and nowhere else in Pakistan is the poor governance so visible. Karachi police which has been stuffed with incompetent recruits on political recommendation is incapable of enforcing law and order in this city, or contain the spread of violence. There are too many unguided missiles that exist in PPP, MQM and ANP. The PPP government is riddled by mediocrity and corruption. At a time when the provincial capital of Sindh has become a battleground in this war of turf, it would be appropriate for their ministers to keep their focus on putting their act together, and leave criticism of their opposition to the federal government.

  1. Mr Sharjeel Memon, Sindh Minister for Information should focus on Sindh and the collapse of governance there. He keeps on repeating the same thing like a parrot.
