KATI PAHARI: A strategy similar to that which was adopted for maintaining peace in Kati Pahari is being implemented across Karachi to control the recent wave of violence in the metropolitan, Sindh’s law enforcement authorities informed Chief Minister (CM) Syed Qaim Ali Shah.
“The strategy has been evolved to ensure law and order as early as possible in the affected areas, which include Landhi, Khokhrapar, Malir and Surjani Town,” the authorities informed Shah during a high-level meeting held on law and order at the CM House.
Home Minister Wassan and IGP Durrani briefed Shah regarding the prevailing law and order situation in the city.
Wassan and Durrani said that the provincial government has banned pillion riding in the metropolis again so that the crimes being committed by culprits on motorcycles could be controlled.
They said that police and Rangers personnel are working day and night to bring the law and order situation under control.
Shah directed Durrani and Rangers Sindh acting director general Brig Zafar Iqbal to take prompt measures for maintaining peace in the province, particularly in Karachi.
Shah also ordered them to take strict action against criminals, terrorists and enemies of humanity without considering their religious or political affiliation.
He said that different groups have been resorting to firing without any fear in various areas of the metropolitan.
They must be dealt with an iron hand and apprehended without any delay so as to ensure security for the lives and properties of the innocent people of the city, he added.
He expressed sorrow on the recent wave of killings in the metropolis and condoled with the bereaved families.
He asked for the number of police and Rangers personnel to be increased in the affected areas and for extending the patrolling of the law enforcers so that the people involved in the incidents of firing could be arrested.
Shah hoped that the peaceful atmosphere of the city would be fully restored in all areas as Karachi is the economic hub of Pakistan and millions of unemployed and underprivileged citizens from various parts of the country arrive here to earn their living.
