Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) National Assembly Member Anusha Rehman said on Sunday that a news item written by Yasir Habib on the reorganisation of the PML-N, published in the July 23 edition of Pakistan Today, was based on misinformation.
She clarified in a statement that the reorganisation process was started around two years ago and took a long time because the party was reorganised from top to bottom. She said a new culture of holding elections was introduced instead of (direct) nominations this time around. PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif had visited all the provinces in December 2010 followed by extensive meetings of all provincial leaders held in Lahore and attended by thousands of PML-N workers, who freely expressed their aspirations for candidates for district presidents and general secretaries, she added. She said the media had covered the entire election process and everything was on record.
