People block road to protest against police attitude

A large number of residents from Toru Mara and surrounding villages staged a rally and blocked the Toru-Suwaryan Road for traffic to condemn the local police for not registering first information report (FIR) of a kidnapping case occurred in Duranabad village two days ago. The protesters gathered at Qasim Chowk and walked towards the Mardan Press Club where they blocked the road. Policemen stopped the protesters at Suwaryan village and started negotiation with them. After a negotiating for around 30 minutes, the police high-ups succeeded in convincing the protesters to disperse and assured them that the police would recover the abducted person within 48 hours after register the FIR of the incident. Meanwhile local sources told Pakistan Today that the accused, Saeed Umar, a few days ago allegedly kidnapped Bilal son of Shah Zaman, resident of Duranabad. Bilal’s relatives wanted to a register an FIR but police did not do so and used dealing tactics. Sources further said the police’s attitude forced the residents of the surrounding villages as well to join the victim party and express their anger on the streets. The accused has a land dispute with the Bilal’s family and both are cousins. Sources said later on, the police registered a case against the accused on the omplaint of Shah Zaman. It is important to note that provincial police chief Fayyaz Khan Toru, an influential landlord, also belong to the Toru area.
