Heavy rain lashes twin cities: 5 killed

At least five persons including three children were killed due to heavy rains in the twin cities with the advent of new series of monsoon season.
According to media reports, At least five persons have killed when roof of the house caved in due to heavy rains in Sahala. The ill fated persons have been identified as Malka Bibi (45), Saleha (11) Waheed (8 ) and Shaukat (10). A youth drowned in nulla Lai.
42mm rain fall was recorded in Islamabad. Water level has reached to 1352 feet in Rawal dam. According to Met office upper areas, Punjab, Kashmir and Makran received heavy rain while twin cities received intermittent rains.
92-mm rain was recorded in Saidpur, federal rural area while 21-mm rain was recorded in Chaklala, Rawalpindi 20mm, Risal Pur 18-mm, Garhi Dupatta 15mm, 9 mm in Lasbela and 8 MM rain is recorded in Mangla and Sialkot.
The water level has climbed to 13 feet in Nullah Lai. The encroachment across the nulla in muhalla Feroz Pura, New Katarian, New Phagwari, Fauji colony, Hazara colony, Ariya muhalla, Nadeem colony and Javed colony has aggravated the problems.
A roof of the house caved in here in Javed colony but no loss of life was reported.
