According to a recent press report, CM Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif, while inaugurating a model bazaar in Township, asked the Prime Minister to take matter in his own hands as Punjab was being given third rate treatment by the federal government institutions. He said that his request to Trading Corporation of Pakistan to provide 15,000 ton sugar for Ramadan has been ignored although millions of tons of sugar was available with the TCP.
I would like to ask the Punjab CM as to why he is asking the TCP to supply sugar for model bazaar to be set up in Lahore. The TCP is responsible to provide sugar to Utilities Stores all over the country at lower rate than the market to poor people. The relevant question is whether the TCP is supplying sugar or not to Utilities Stores in Lahore.
Who has stopped the CM to provide sugar from eight sugar mills owned by his family and his cousins in Punjab? They are the main stakeholders in sugar business and have the power to control prices.
He should set a personal example by supplying sugar to model bazaars in Punjab at lower cost during the holy month of Ramadan. Then there would be no need for the CM to complain to the PM about the TCP.
