A short spell of rain resulted in long hours of closures in the city on Saturday.
There were closures of two to three hours immediately after rain in different areas of the city. Load shedding remained high from early morning and there were long closures on Friday night. The city received heavy rains in the afternoon and there were suspensions of power before and after rain. Areas, including Ghaziabad, Kot Lakhpat, Rehmanpura and Johar Town witnessed more than two hours of closure.
Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) sources said that the transmission and distribution system of the company collapsed in many areas due to rain. He said that in many areas, power could not be restored even after the rain had ended. “LESCO officials remained very busy in repairing lines, as in many areas there were complaints and it took around three hours to address problems,” a LESCO official said adding that the number of complaints were more than the number of LESCO employees, therefore, it was problematic. Consumers said that it was hard day, as there was no power the whole day due to rain.
