Traditional embroideries, striking colour combinations, innovative designs and quality fabrics were put on display in an exhibition of women’s formal and casual wear by a young dress designer Iquera on Saturday at L’atelier.
Iquera has showcased latest fashion trends under her brand name ‘Iquera Couture’ by displaying a contemporary fashion ensemble of dresses. The exotic dress collection includes casual, semi-formal and formal dresses with each piece beautifully embellished with traditional block printing, embroideries, sequins and gota.
Around 20 formal, semi-formal and casual dresses, with modified versions, attracted visitors with elegant embroidery on fine fabric. The young designer has tried to revive the traditional craftwork of the subcontinent by introducing thread, pearls and ‘dabka’ work on different colourful dresses to celebrate the coming season.
Using different materials including pure silk and cotton silk, Iquera has wonderfully embellished the bridal wear by using sequins, thread work and beads. A range of cotton dresses has also been beautifully designed on funky prints.
JEWELLERY EXHIBITION: Iquera also displayed a wide range of handmade silver and gold plated jewellery. The dress designer also works wonder in jewellery designing with her latest designs in gold, diamond, kundan, polki and some exclusive silver jewellery.
The jewellery pieces were done in traditional and antique-looking varieties, set with precious and semi-precious stones that were modern, lightweight and wearable on all occasions. Each piece including bridal sets, necklaces, rings, pendants and earrings were truly presenting a beautiful amalgamation of contemporary designs and traditional cuts.
While talking to Pakistan Today, Iquera said that gold prices were soaring with each passing day and going out of the common man’s reach. “I have been designing these jewellery objects in silver and gold plated forms. These jewellery items are within reach of everyone with a wide range of colour variety to match with their dresses,” she said.
