Policemen’s welfare to be ensured: CCPO

No stone will be left unturned to ensure welfare and encouragement of policemen because industrious, dutiful and courageous policemen are an asset for the police department, Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ahmed Raza Tahir said on Friday.
He was chairing a special meeting held in connection with welfare of policemen. The CCPO was informed that in order to meet the residential requirements of the force, 12 developments schemes are being completed, including construction of residences, barracks, hospitals and police stations, which are being constructed through the Annual Development Programme. These development schemes include construction of 90 residences of officers of BPS-1 to 10 at Bhobatian Chowk, Raiwind Road, construction of Married Officer’s Flats of BPS-15 to 17 at Investigation Headquarters, Qilla Gujjar Singh, including mosques and servant quarters, construction of barracks for policemen at Lahore including five schemes at District Police Lines and two schemes at Bhobattian Chowk Raiwind Road, construction of nine schemes for officers of BPS-18 to 19 at the CCPO Office, construction of a police hospital containing 40 beds, construction of Gari Shahu Police Station, construction of Hanjarwal Police Station, construction of Township Police Station, construction of Masti Gate Police Station, construction of Ravi Road Police Station and construction of Naseerabad Police Station are about to be completed.
Tahir was also informed that there is always an additional need of policemen during Muharram, Data Darbar Urs, religious congregation at Raiwind and visits of foreign dignities. Keeping in view this situation, five more barracks are also being constructed at the Police Lines while two other barracks are being constructed at Rohi Nula. The CCPO said that a balanced system of reward and punishment has been introduced in the Lahore Police, under which regular reporting system about the efficiency and working of all officials, has been introduced, while strict monitoring of corrupt and inefficient is being carried out.
