While performing my duty at Kalma Chowk Lahore, I observed a totally unethical and immoral act committed by doctors. There is a ban on the use of mobile phones while driving because it has proved to be a major cause of road accidents in Pakistan over the past few years. Anyone found using mobile phone during driving is fined without any discrimination.
Over the past few months, I found that doctors do violate this rule, and with even more ratio than others. When their vehicle is stopped for violating the rule, they usually introduce themselves as doctors in the nearby hospitals and make lame excuses to avoid fine by saying that there was a call from the hospital due to some emergency there.
They do not feel guilty for violating the law and instead argue with the traffic wardens.
Medical professionals, who have high social status and respect in society because of their services to the mankind, should follow the same ethics and good morals and should not misuse their status for their personal cause. They should understand that this law is for their own safety.
