Renowned poet and scholar Khalid Iqbal Yasir has assumed the charge as Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) director general. Iqbal had been working as the National Museum of Science and Technology director general on deputation before rejoining his parent organization, PAL. He also translated the famous novel of Paulo Coelho “The Al-Chemist” in to Urdu. Urdu translations of poetry from Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Spain, Sweden and Hungry are also to his credit. He also carries his editing acumen and discipline to quarterly “Adabiyat”. He promoted national integration by compiling a number of issues on various languages and literature of Pakistan in Urdu. Government of Pakistan has also honored him with “Tamgha-e-Imtiaz” as a mark of his literary achievements.
