The Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA) held a protest on Friday against the delay in appointments of vice-chancellors (VC) of four public-sector varsities of the province in front of the Lahore Press Club. Only 25 varsity teachers participated in the protest.
Teachers claimed that FAPUASA always hesitated to protest for real issues, including corruption, and the recent protest call is for their vested interests. A few days ago, FAPUASA President Dr Maher Saeed Akhtar, University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Academic Staff Association (ASA) President Dr Zafar Noon and other representatives announced a protest movement if the Punjab government did not appoint VCs at four varsities, including the Government College University (GCU) Lahore, University of Sargodha, Bahauddin Zikriya University, Multan and University of Education, Lahore.
