Families of 10 deceased youth demand end to human trafficking

The aggrieved families of the 10 deceased youth, who recently died while illegally travelling to Europe through Iran, from Daska, Pasrur (Chawinda), Gujrat, Wazirabad and Lalamusa Friday urged the government and high ups of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to launch a vigorous crackdown on the human traffickers. They said that a prompt action would purge the entire region of such ‘inhumane’ elements and save the youth from dying while going abroad illegally.
They said that it was the high time for FIA and other agencies concerned to wake up and nab the human traffickers instead of waiting for more tragedies to happen.
The grieving families strongly protested against the human trafficking and demanded a stern legal action against them. They also criticised the FIA and other relevant agencies, saying that the human trafficking was thriving in their cities with full impunity while the government and its agencies were playing the role of silent spectators. They termed the human traffickers as the killers of humanity who had been playing with precious human lives, saying that these human smuggling were bring notoriety for the country in the entire world.
Talking to the newsmen at village Chak Gillan-East, Daska Tehsil, Ghulam Abbas, father of the deceased Bilal Ahmed, Rehmat Ali, father of deceased Aamir, Muhammad Yousaf, father of deceased Muhammad Nouman, said that though they had lost their beloved sons, they wanted an end to this inhuman practice and tragedies it caused. They voiced their concerns over the fact that human traffickers were still at large. They said the agents working for those traffickers lured the youth into believing that they could got to Europe to live a better life.
The six youth Bilal Ahmed, Aamir Rehmat, Muhammad Nouman Yousaf, Zeeqaad Iqbal, Pervaiz Inayat, Imran Tufail, –all from Daska, died of suffocation inside a container on their way to Turkey on Wednesday. According the senior officials of FIA, as many as six youth belonging to Daska Tahsil reportedly died.
The families told the media that their sons had paid Rs370,000 each to agents based in Daska, Karachi and Quetta. However, they were unable to tell the names of the accused human traffickers for whom those agents worked for.
It is to be noted that in October 2010, 11 youth from Chawinda had drowned in deep waters of Arabian Sea while going to Muscat through Gwadar.
When contacted, FIA Deputy Director Gujranwala Region Gul Sanobar Khan said that the FIA had set up special teams comprising Inspector Muhammad Hanif Chaudhry and Inspector Shaukat Goraya who were raiding at the possible hideouts of the human traffickers involved.
He said that two Daska-based notorious human traffickers, Zahid Gondal and Shahid Gondal (both brothers), were involved in the recent case of human trafficking gone wrong.
Gul Sanobar added that as many as 35 notorious human traffickers wanted by the FIA in its Red Book belonged to Gujranwala region, out of which 21 have been arrested.
