The Defence Housing Authority (DHA) is focusing on reviving the non-functional Cogen Power and Desalination Plant on soon, DHA Administrator Brig Aamer Raza Qureshi said on Friday.
He was meeting with a delegation of the Association of Defence Residents (ADR), led by the association’s president Attique-ur-Rehman, which called on him at the DHA’s head office.
The administrator said that through hectic efforts, a significant headway has been made towards making the Cogen Power and Desalination Plant operational again.
“The banks involved in the project would release funds for undertaking the third party evaluation and route cause analysis, before comprehensive repairs for making the Cogen plant operational start,” he added.
The administrator underlined the need of frequent interaction between DHA and the residents’ association for speedy and pragmatic resolution of residents’ problems.
“The DHA is committed to ensuring provision of quality living environments and best amenities to its residents,” he added
On the maintenance of the new storm water drainage system in the DHA, the administrator said that the project had proved its functional efficacy and viability during the monsoon rains in the last two years. “However, it is important that the drainage system be taken over by the agency responsible for its maintenance in future, for its longer life,” he maintained.
Similarly, the overhead Gizri bridge should also be taken over by the maintenance agency at the earliest.”
The delegation appreciated the prompt and positive decisions made by the administrator on different issues concerning residents’ interest.
