Top seed Aqeel Khan lifted the title of the first Aisam ul Haq Master Tennis Tournament after beating his younger brother Jalil Khan in the final by straight sets 2-0 at PTF Tennis Complex, Islamabad on Friday. Aqeel Khan entered in the court with full confidence and displayed excellent skills of the game.
He hit powerful strokes from the starting of the match. He broke the second, fourth and sixth game of the Jalil in the first set to make the score 6-0. Jalil did a lot of unforced errors including four double faults in the first set. Pakistan number one, Aqeel Khan maintained his pace throughout the set and finished without conceding a single game. He also smashed three aces in the first set.
Later, in the second set, Jalil put some resistance in the way of Aqeel but it was not enough to defeat top seed lad. Aqeel won the second set on tie break by 7-6 to clinch the title. The final scoreline was 6-0 and 7-6. Aisam-ul-Haq’s mother Nosheen Ahitsham graced the closing ceremony as the chief guest and distributed the prizes among the players. Aqeel Khan was awarded Rs 100,000 cash and the winning trophy while Jalil got the runners-up trophy.
