Negotiation between the Young Doctors Association (YDA) Pakistan and the Punjab regulation secretary regarding the regularisation of 1,800 assistant professors, senior registrars and district specialists failed as the YDA accused the regulation secretary of using “delaying tactics” after a delegation of doctors met him on Thursday in his office.
“The Regulation Department is now proving to be the biggest hurdle in the regularisation of these senior doctors,” said a release issued by the YDA. Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had already approved the summary of regularisation of the post graduate medical officers as senior registrars, assistant professors, district specialist and contract doctors in 2009. The notification for amendment of two service rules for assistant professors, senior registrars and district specialists was still pending with the secretary.
