White Lies

The women parliamentarians’ caucus at the parliament in Islamabad is abuzz with gossip of the recent marriage – and even more recent divorce – of a feudal parliamentarian, a gentleman who is named a thousand, no less.

Much anger in these women of substance against the feudal mentality of keeping an “alpha” wife in the village and going through a series of marriages for social life in the respective capital cities.

Given the stark dearth of directly elected female representatives, they are ones to talk about the feudals. For, barring certain political parties that have given seats to female activists, a huge number of them are from the very same feudal families that operate in a manner like this.

Your take, ladies?

A degree from the university of life, a diploma from the school of hard knocks and three gold stars from the kindergarten of getting the **** kicked out of me.–Black Adder (1989)

Word is out that a special dual expressway is being eked out on Raiwind Road, leading to a university campus whose chief is a PML(N) stalwart.

The influentials of the area have decided to take the matter of encroachment on their land to court.

They’ve decided to, forgive the pun, teach the university a lesson.
