It appears to have been very easy to not only confiscate accounts worth billions of dollars lying in Swiss and American banks but hand these over to a group of people opposing the “Libyan tyrant” not popular with NATO and co. Under what law or non-law could such actions be carried out I do not know, but it has given me hope.
Why doesn’t the IMF, by the same logic, confiscate the billions of dollars in American and Swiss banks that were meant to be used for our development needs, but were given to rogue rulers who siphoned off the money to their private foreign accounts? The IMF must redeem itself of the charge of giving odious borrowers by confiscating this wealth, clear our debt, give back to the vast surplus and free the wretched of the earth from eternal poverty and indebtedness.
The banks will not suffer as the billions will remain with them; only the account will be a different one – IMF. But otherwise, it will have to be a charitable venture, as we have no oil to give in return of getting back what is ours.
