The government is all set to make registration of seed companies with the Seed Association of Pakistan mandatory, so that it could be able to monitor and audit the seed business. To issue a formal notification in this regard, the Federal Seed Certification and Registration Department (DG FSC&RD) Syed Mohammad Nasir Ali had a meeting with the Executive Committee of Seed Association of Pakistan.
The meeting was jointly chaired by Vice Chairman Seed Association of Pakistan Dr Qaiser Rashid and FSC&RD DG. The issue regarding the seed companies’ registration with Seed Association of Pakistan being mandatory was discussed in detail and on the occasion the FSC&RD DG agreed to pursue the issue with the government. A delegation of Vegetable Seed Importers led by Dr Abdul Nasir Kasi also had a meeting with FSC&RD DG and it was mutually agreed that a committee would be formed to discuss and review the issue regarding modality adaptability trial for import of vegetable seeds.
