Russians interested in hydro and coal power generation

A Russian company, Inter Rao Use has expressed interest to invest in the small hydropower, coal power generation projects and to develop transmission lines in the country. The interest was expressed by a Russian delegation led by Maxim Sergeev of Inter Rao Use who called on the Minister for Water and Power, Syed Naveed Qamar to discuss the investment opportunities in the power sector of Pakistan. He said they were interested to identify projects for investment.
The company produces and sells electric energy as well as designs and builds generating assets. The company has expertise in the hydro power, coal power generation and transmission lines manufacturing equipments and is interested to invest in these sectors.
The company also informed regarding its expertise to develop and run the Low BTU gas power plant. The minister appreciated the Russian delegation for their interest in the power sector and said that the government would facilitate them. He said that special incentives were being planned to attract the investment in the power sector. He highlighted that upfront tariffs based on various technologies and fuel was being worked out to facilitate the investors.
