Veteran actor and comedian Sohail Ahmed was awarded with the Pride of Performance at Al Hamra in a programme held in his honour the other day. The programme was organised by the Punjab Union and was presided over by Dr Ajmal Niazi, with Sohail Zia Butt as Chief Guest. Firdous Ashiq Awan was also present.
Various participants paid tribute to Sohail, one of the leading actors of Punjabi plays. Writer Tufail Shah and Sughra Sadaf praised Sohail on his life-long acheivements as an actor. Two poems were also recited in his honour including an aarifana kalam. Addressing the occasion, Firdous said Sohail was a true representative of the Punjabi language with a creative mind that was accessible to common man.
His jokes were understood and enjoyed by all, she added. Mentioning Punjabi theatre actor Kodu’s ill health, Firdous said attempts would be made to provide him with quality medical treatment. She said she was working for the betterment of actors and performers of Punjab and hoped to make a difference in their plight soon.

Congrats to you Mr.Sohail. Yes, this intellectually very good comedian deserves this award, though it should have been done a couple of years before. I like his programs on Dunya Channel.
