The Matriculation Annual Result of eight boards of intermediate and secondary education (BISE) of Punjab, which was scheduled to be declared today (Thursday) has been postponed due to failure of the Punjab government’s newly-introduced online system, as controlling authorities could not compile the result, Pakistan Today has learnt.
16,000 results not compiled: To make things worse, no new date has been announced for the result. BISE officials blamed the Punjab government since Online System Consultant Dr Majid Naeem is a relative of a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and was responsible for the postponement of the result. According to sources, the results of around 16,000 students were not compiled at Lahore and similarly results of thousands of students in other boards had not been complete while the gazette was also not published.
On the other hand, students and parents demanded inquiry against those responsible for the results’ postponement.
Complaints against online system: A BISE official, seeking anonymity, alleged that the online system was a good system but those who are handling it are incompetent. He said that Dr Majid Naeem was involved in corruption in the past at the PU IT department and then went to the Government College University (GCU).
A BISE Rawalpindi official said that they are not in a position to declare results in coming weeks and blamed Naeem for the fiasco. BISE Employees Welfare Union President Aslam Gujjar said that the online system had failed. Another BISE official, seeking anonymity, said that Naeem was earning millions after taking charge of the BISE online system but had failed.
BISE Online System Consultant Dr Majid Naeem said that the result had been compiled and he could declare it whenever the authorities asked him to do. Rather it was the Punjab government that had not provided them a date, he said. On the other hand, Tariq Lone, a contractor which publishes BISE results, contradicted Naeem’s claim and asked why gazettes were not sent to publishers if the result was complete?
When will the results be
announced? A meeting of BISE chairmen was held with Punjab Higher Education Secretary Haseeb Athar and it was decided that the result will be announced between August 1 to 4. BISE Lahore Controller Manzoorul Hassan Niazi said that actually, this was a first experience with the online system and there were various issues in it. He said that actually they wanted clarity in the result and the final date of the result announcement will be declared today (Thursday).
