Lawyers assault judge, police officials for granting bail

A group of infuriated lawyers on Wednesday severely tortured three police personnel, all real brothers in session courts premises after they secured pre-arrest bail in a case registered by one of the lawyers.
The victims Muhammad Rizwan, Amir Jan and Mehran hailed from Jaranwala had come to the session court to appear before a court of an additional sessions judge Anjum Raza Syed with regard to proceedings on their bail petition.
Advocate Muhammad Rauf had registered a case against them with Islampura police station on charges of hurling life threats. Advocate Rauf along with his fellow black coats was also present in the court to oppose the bail petition, however, the judge allowed interim bail till July 28.
The three brothers, also happened to be maternal cousins of Rauf, came out of the court and headed towards main gate of the sessions court premises. Advocate Rauf along with around 20 more lawyers intercepted the three brothers and started beating them up, eyewitnesses said.
Besides punches and kicks the lawyers used clubs on the three brothers and the judge as well who granted bail.
Islampura station house officer and Lahore bar association’s representatives rushed to the spot and took both parties to committee room on the presumption that the matter would be amicably resolved.
However eyewitness said the lawyers began thrashing the policemen in the presence of bar leaders.
The bar leaders also supported their colleagues and handed over the three policemen to police alleging that they had attempted to abduct Advocate Rauf and also fired bullets.
