Lal Shahbaz Qalandar’s Urs starts today

Sindh Culture Minister Sassui Palijo on Wednesday chaired a meeting to finalise arrangements for the 759th annual Urs celebrations of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar Qalandar starting at Sehwan Sharif from today (Thursday).
The arrangements for the annual three-day festivities were reviewed in detail, particularly the organisation of Shahbaz Literary Conference, during which renowned writers, literary personalities and researchers present their papers every year to pay tributes to Qalandar’s philosophy, message and to his contribution to poetry and Sufism.
The Culture Department has announced publishing two publications on the occasion.
During the meeting, securities agencies were directed to take all possible safety measures for the millions of devotees, who will visit the Sehwan city during the annual Urs. It was decided at the meeting that a shuttle service would be run to take poets, writers and other participants to Sehwan Sharif from Karachi and Hyderabad.
The meeting was also attended by Sindh Culture Department Secretary Abdul Aziz Uqaili, Director General Muhammad Ramzan Awan, Director Manzoor Kanasaro and Muhammad Ali Manjhi among others.
