Top seed Aqeel Khan will compete with his younger brother Jalil Khan in the final of the men’s singles of the first Aisam-ul-Haq Master Tennis Championship on Friday (tomorrow) here at PTF Tennis Complex, as both brothers outclassed their respective opponents in the semi-finals with the similar scoreline 6-4 and 6-2 yesterday.
On Wednesday, in the first semi-final, Aqeel Khan brushed aside his younger brother Yasir Khan in straight sets 2-0 after showing his wonderful and classic game at the clay court of PTF Tennis Complex. The final scoreline was 6-4 and 6-2. Yasir was not given any room of sympathy from his elder brother throughout the contest. In the second semi-final, Jalil Khan defeated M Abid to scure the place in final.
In the women’s singles, Saba Aziz and Sara Mansoor confirmed their clash for the top honour contest after registering the victories in the semi-finals. The final will be played today at same venue. The semi-finals were one-sided affairs as both the winners claimed victories without conceding a single game in the both sets. In the boys’ under-18, top seed Muhammad Abid Mushtaq and second seed Usman Rafiq jumped into the final after beating their rivals. Abid proved too good for Ahmed Choudhary and won the match 2-0 with the scoreline of 6-2 and 6-0. In the other semi-final Usman Rafiq eliminated Hasnain Manzoor in straight sets at 6-2, 6-1.
