Trials for WAPDA endowment fund for sports

The WAPDA Sports Board has announced the trials for selection of the second batch of the WAPDA Endowment Fund for Sports (WEFS). It would be conducted by WAPDA as well as its distribution companies all over the country from July 28 and will continue till November. An official of the WAPDA Sports Board said that under this scheme the performance evaluation test of first intake was held in May in which fitness standard, physical condition and sports specific test were held.
The fitness trials for second intake of 105 youngsters is scheduled to be held in Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) (July 28 to July 30), Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) (September 7 to 10), Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) (September 13 to 15), Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) (September 20 to 23), Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) (September 29), Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) (October 1 to 5), Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) October (7 to 10) and Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) (September 11 to 14). Youngsters of 14 years age on December 31, 2011 will be eligible for the trials and after medical fitness tests, selected youngsters will be issued enrolment letters in January 2012.
He also said that WAPDA Endowment Fund for Sports was established in 2010 with an initial capital of Rs 1000 million. The prime objective of the fund was to arrange regular source of financing for youngsters. Besides imparting training and coaching, Rs 5000 monthly scholarship are being awarded to each trainee. In addition, medical facilities at respective WAPDA hospitals and transport facility are also being provided to the selected youth under this scheme.
