Zardari nominates Ch Abdul Majid to be AJK’s next PM

Pakistan People’s Party AJK leadership has decided, with a green signal from the presidency, to nominate Chaudhry Abdul Majid as the prime minister of Azad Kashmir. Well-placed sources of AJK PPP said the decision was taken after consultation with President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and Faryal Talpur and other senior ministers while other options included Chaudhry Yasin, Sardar Attiq Ahmad and another person. AJK PPP secretary general Latif Akbar is likely to be nominated as speaker of AJK legislative assembly.
Sources said party leadership is likely to issue final list of its candidates for the reserved seats within two to three days. When contacted, Chaudhry Abdul Majid said all the newly elected members of legislative assembly of AJK had authorised President Zardari to take the decisions pertaining to the premiership of AJK and other matters. Sources added that Barrister Sultan Mehmood was the strongest candidate for the slot of prime minister.
