The Chief Minister’s House on Monday cancelled an official handout issued on Saturday, stating the news of an inauguration ceremony of Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Dow University of Health Sciences where the chief minister had announced a grant of Rs 10 million.
Saturday’s handout clearly stated that the grant was for establishing Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation institutes in Hyderabad, Sukkur, Khairpur and Larkana. A news story in this regard was published in Pakistan Today’s Sunday edition.
However, CM’s Press Secretary Allah Bachayo Memon contradicted the news report on Monday, saying that this scribe had deliberately changed the contents of Saturday’s handout.
Nevertheless Pakistan Today has the copy of the official handout as well as the recorded evidence of a conversation between Memon and this scribe.
Memon had clearly stated that the CM had announced a grant for establishing Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation institutes in Hyderabad, Sukkur, Khairpur and Larkana – not Karachi.
All the same, Monday’s official handout declared that the grant is for establishing a centre in Karachi, and not in Hyderabad, Sukkur, Khairpur and Larkana.
It has become a routine that the CM House’s press section, headed by Memon, contradicts previously issued handouts the very next day.
