The International Cricket Council has released the names of players that have been included in the greatest Test team ever selected by over quarter million fans of cricket.
Four Australians, four Indians, two West Indians and one Pakistani have been named in the greatest Test team. Surprisingly, no English cricketer is in this team. Players like Viv Richards, Malcom Marshall, Jack Hobbs, Imran Khan, Ricky Ponting and Muttiah Muralitharan are missing.
It seems that India (who is also favoured a lot by the ICC) has used its population strength and many cricket lovers from India have cast votes in favour of their own players. It would have been better if Jack Hobbs and Garry Sobers were selected instead of Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev.
The final Dream XI is as follows:
1. Virender Sehwag (India), 2. Sunil Gavaskar (India), 3. Donald Bradman (Australia), 4. Sachin Tendulkar (India), 5. Brian Lara (West Indies), 6. Kapil Dev (India), 7. Adam Gilchrist (wk) (Australia), 8. Shane Warne (Australia), 9.Wasim Akram (Pakistan), 10. Curtly Ambrose (West Indies), 11. Glenn McGrath (Australia)
