Court puts off Haj corruption case hearing until Aug 2

The special judge central on Tuesday put off the hearing of the Haj corruption case unitl August 1 and ordered the Adyala jail superintendent to produce former Haj director general Rao Shakeel in court at the next hearing. Syed Akhlaq Ahmad Shah, special judge central, directed Adyala Jail superintendent Muhsin Rafiqu to shift Rao Shakeel from the custody of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore to Adyala Jail and produce him in court. Former minister for religious affair Hamid Saeed Kazmi, allegedly involved in the Haj scam, was also present in court.
Later, talking to media representatives, Kazmi said the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had so far failed to produce any concrete evidence against him regarding his involvement in the Haj scam. “ Azam Swati did not prove the allegations leveled by him against me in the Supreme Court (SC)”, he said.
He said a famous leader of a banned religious outfit was recently released on bail in Lahore because of a lack of evidence, adding the same treatment should me meted out to him as there was no evidence of his involvement in the Haj scam. The FIA team has so far arrested former Haj DG Rao Shakeel, Religious Affairs Joint Secretary Aftab ul Islam and Abdullah Khokar, brother- in- law of Kazmi.
