Top seed Aqeel Khan, Jalil Khan, Yasir Khan, Mohammad Waqas, Shahzad Ahmed, Usman Rafiq, Muhammad Abid and Abid Mushtaq moved into the quarterfinals of the first Aisam-ul-Haq Master Tennis Championship here at PTF Tennis Complex on Monday. Aisam graced the opening ceremony as the chief guest of the prestigious national tennis event, which began on Monday under the banner of the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF). A total number of 24 matches have been played on the opening day of championship at the clay courts of the PTF Tennis Complex. Top seed Aqeel Khan eased to next round by stunning his opponent in straight set by conceding just two games in two sets. The final score-line was 6-1 and 6-1. Aqeel Khan will take on Muhammad Waqas in the quarter-final.
In the Men’s Singles, veteran Hamid-ul-Haq was in good form and won the first set against Muhammad Abid Ali by 6-1 but owing to have Fast in connection with Shab-e-Barat, he conceded the match in favor of his opponent. No one had to toil hard to earn win against the lowly ranked national tennis junior lads in the first round.
In the Under-18 Junior Singles, all seeded players Muhammad Abid, Usman Rafiq, Kashan-ul-Haq and Ahmed Choudhary qualified for the second round after winning their respective matches. Hasnain Manzoor worked hard in the court to overcome Haseeb Yaqoob, who gave a tough fight to his rival. After three sets affairs, Hasnain registered the victory in the championship.
