Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Sunday said weapons recovered during raids by law enforcement agencies in parts of Karachi were being smuggled in from Israel.
Hinting at the involvement of foreign hands behind the unrest in Karachi, he said Israeli-made weapons were being used by miscreants in the port city. “Over 200 persons have been arrested in connection with the recent wave of violence and Israeli-made weapons including AK-45, have been recovered from them. It proves that foreign hands are behind the unrest in Karachi,” he told reporters at Islamabad airport after his return from Karachi.
The minister said investigation was being conducted to ascertain who were supporting these people and supplying the weapons. He said the media would be given access to question the suspect on why they were killing innocent people.
Differences To a query, Malik said doors were open for the MQM to rejoin the government, adding that the tension between the PPP and MQM was temporary.
He said the coordination between the two parties was a must for peace in Karachi. Malik said Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain was in contact with the MQM on behalf of the government to settle the political issues that caused differences between the PPP and MQM. Referring to the assassination of PIA People’s Unity President Amir Shah in Karachi, he said an inquiry was underway and there were certain clues in this regard, adding that the killers and perpetrators would be brought to justice soon.
To a question, he said although target killing was rampant in Karachi, not every murder was an incident of target killing.
“Investigations in most of the cases point out that 66 percent of those killed in Karachi were victims of personal enmities,” he added. He said media should be careful while reporting any incident of killing. Commenting on PML-N MNA Anjum Aqeel Khan’s escape from police custody, Malik said nobody could justify use of weapons against police and whosoever committed the crime must get punished.
Malik said the chief justice of Pakistan had taken suo motu notice of a news report published in a section of press that the MNA was allegedly involved in Rs 6 billion National Police Foundation land scam in which he had the support of nine former IGs and in charge of the police foundation. The minister said the federal government had nothing to do with the arrest of Anjum Aqeel. Malik said cases were filed against the PPP leadership in the past.
“We faced hardships and were detained in jails for nothing but giving employment to poor people,” he said, adding that they never tried to violate the law. To a question, he said investigation into the killing of a Saudi diplomat in Karachi was being conducted and some clues had been found that would help in the arrest of the culprits.
It is a misfortune that people like Rehman Malik are holding a portfolio of Interior ministry who, being a confidante of thePresident, is frequently seen in Karachi after law and order situation and being a loyal friend of MQM, uses his official clout to save MQM and always absolves MQM of target killing when on the other hand Dr Zulfiqar Mirza former Home Minister was absolutely clear of MQM's involvement in target killing.
Mr Rehman Malik's announcement that weapons smuggled from Israel have been recovered in Karachi. He is obviously trying to shift the responsibility from his friends to some one else. His statements most of the times are ridiculous. Sometimes he blames land mafia, drug mafia and at other times blames 'third' force etc etc.

Mr. Rehman Malik is fond of cracking jokes so don't take him seriously. Thanks God this time he did not named anyone from another planet..
Mr Rahman Malik, you and your govt are responsible for these killings and whether the killers come from South Africa or the weapons that they use are made in Isreal or Russia. You and your godfathers will face eternal damnation for murder of innocents

The Chief Justice of Pakistan must also take suo moto notice of Israeli made weapons being imported to Pakistan soil.
Yes, Chief Justice must take action and immediately call Foreign Minister and Interior Minister of Israel to clear their positions. He must also send notices to Secretary of State – USA and if need be the Prime Minister Of India. One can expect anything from our Chief Justice. For, on the spot action he can summon Mr. Choo Munter the Ambassador of USA to Pakistan.
