After the discovery of Osama bin Laden’s in the Abbottabad garrison by unilateral American SEALS operation, relation have seen a consistent downward slide. This operation confirmed the American suspicion that Pakistan army is playing double games: running with the Taliban and hunting with America.
These double games have hurt more Pakistan than Americans. The suspension of US $ 800 million military aid is although going to affect the Pakistan Army but the military leadership response is very sensible that it will continue its war against terrorism.
Is this not American blackmail? It is a known fact that Americans consider their own national interest is paramount and don’t like that other countries should do the same, for US interest not their own.
The US considers itself the wiseman of the world and being the sole superpower, they think they have the right to decide what is good for other countries. Americans have never played a role of neutral referee in resolving international disputes between two countries: their double standard is known to every student of international politics.
American administration should find out why anti Americanism is so high among the people of Pakistan and in other countries when they are providing so much financial assistance for health, education and as social up lifts.
Instead of helping Pakistan in overcoming their domestic economic problems of energy crisis, poverty they are using their aid money on such projects which have no appeal for ordinary Pakistani. They should setup medical and engineering universities and assist Pakistan in mega energy projects with their aid money. During the last three years, America should have helped Pakistan in setting up Nuclear Power Generation Plants as they intend to help India.
They should have used their influence on India to solve the Kashmir issue, which is causing a major share of these countries’ income to be spent on armaments. Perhaps, America being the largest producer of war armaments, wants to keep its industries in production at the cost of human lives.
Pakistani people want friendship with the US but not at the cost of their dignity and sovereignty. History is witness to the fact that Pakistani has always preferred its friendship with America. Many Pakistanis have cherished American values of democracy, freedom, personal liberty and free market. The American should base their friendship with Pakistan on mutual respect and trust.
