Militants set on fire at least six vehicles and abducted around six to ten people during an attack in Lower Kurram Agency on Sunday afternoon. According to reports, the five trucks and a pick up, returning from Parachinar for an onward journey to Peshawar, were attacked near the Charkhel Mandoori area of Lower Kurram. The militants opened fire at the convoy, causing injuries to two persons, and forced all of the occupants to disembark the vehicles. Later, they torched the vehicles and abducted the drivers and conductors, whose number is stated to be from six to 10.
Soon after receiving information, the officials rushed to the site and directed the security forces for an early search operation. No group has so far claimed the responsibility for attack but it is believed to be a reaction to Saturday’s attack on a carrying Sunni people near Boshehra. The death toll in the Saturday’s terror act reached 11, when an infant succumbed to injuries on Sunday. The local people informed that 10 victims were Sunnis whereas the driver was from the Shia community.
