The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in its meeting with Chairman NADRA and Secretary Statistics Division decided to start country wide door-to-door verification exercise of Electoral Rolls from August 08.
The decision was taken after briefing by the Chairman NADRA, Mr. Ali Arshad Hakeem wherein he informed about activities to be undertaken by NADRA before the start of actual printing of draft Electoral Rolls to be used for country wide door to door verification exercise.
He also highlighted some practical problems which hindered the gigantic task of printing of more than 80 million voters detail in the Draft Electoral Rolls in time and requested for revision of timelines earlier decided by the Election Commission.
Therefore, the ECP, keeping in view the historic nature of this electoral exercise as well as its magnitude and taking into consideration the position with regard to printing of Electoral Rolls, the law and order situation in some parts of the country, the forthcoming holy month of Ramadan and Eid holidays, decided to start door-to-door verification of Electoral Rolls exercise on 8th August 2011 which will continue till 17th September 2011.
