World champion Marco Huck has defended his WBO cruiserweight title for the seventh time after a 10th-round knock-out of Argentina’s Hugo Hernan Garay. In front of 3,500 fans at Munich’s Olympic Ice Arena on Saturday, the 26-year-old Huck knocked Garay to the canvas in the first and 10th rounds. Garay was counted out by referee Luis Pabon after exactly one minute of the 10th round as Huck picked up the 24th knock-out of his career and the 32nd victory, while this was the sixth defeat for Garay since he turned professional. Huck had one point deducted in the third for hitting his opponent on the back of the head, but was otherwise rarely tested by the South American. The champion can now fulfil his dream to marry on July 30 as a world champion when he walks his fiancee Amina down the aisle. Garay, 30, caused a stir before the fight by insisting he was going to “kill” Huck and stripped naked for Friday’s weigh-in, something he has often done in the past.
