Presidential staff avoids air catastrophe

A C-130 aircraft carrying the presidential entourage to Iran had to make an emergency landing 30 minutes after take-off from Chaklala Air Base on Saturday.
A source told Pakistan Today that the aircraft had to take off at 9:30am but the flight was delayed because of inclement weather. When the aircraft eventually took off at 10:30am, the pilot decided to return to Chaklala after 45 minutes in the air.
“We were told it was some technical fault,” the source said, adding that the aircraft landed at Chaklala at 12pm.
Asked if there was any possibility of sabotage, he said: “The fuel tank leaked and the pilot decided to return.”
President Asif Ali Zardari was not on board as he always travels in his presidential aircraft.
