The Environment Protection Fund (TEPF) will host a tree-planting event in the Gandhi Park area by the 7UP factory, Gulberg on Saturday.
Some 80-100 students and teachers from various government schools participated in a summer camp with Idara-e-Taaleem-Aaagahi (ITA), Lahore Grammar School Main, and the National College for Business Administration and Economics, were joined by workers from Lahore Waste Management and the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) in planting at least 120 trees as part of its efforts to beautify the area.
PHA head Dr Abdul Jabbar Shaheen supporting the effort and donated the trees. In June, lobbying by the TEPF led to the removal of a 1.5 mile stretch of burnt trains in the area. Our volunteers had worked hard at removing the rubbish in five visits prior to the train’s removal. Local residents have welcomed TEPF’s efforts in the area.
The TEPF is a non-profit organization that inculcates social responsibility through community service. Students participating in our programs often receive course credits for the work they do and receive a certificate upon completion of 48 hours of work.
