The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Saturday told the special committee of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) that applications would be invited soon for the re-auction of nursery plots. CDA Chairman Imtiaz Inyat Elahi told the PAC special committee meeting which was presided over by its convener MNA Nadeem Afzal Chan and attended by MNA Noor-ul-Haq Qadri, officials of the National Assembly and the CDA’s board members that they had made a new policy to lease out land for nurseries and advertise for re-auction in the press soon.
The convener of the committee directed the CDA officials to submit the details of the exiting 22 nurseries after which they would visit all of them. He also asked the CDA to cancel the auction and invite fresh applications for re-auction as soon as possible. Elahi said the applications would be invited from the individuals, firms and companies having sufficient experience in the field of nurseries. The applications so received would be scrutinized by a three-member committee, he said.
The chairman said the lease extension period had been decreased from 30 years to 20 years as per original provision of the first lease agreement. The annual ground rent would be charged at the rat of Rs 11,718 per acre per annum with a 25 per cent increase after every three years, he said and added the nurseries were being operated on an annual licence basis since 2001/2002.
