Interesting things are happening in Pakistan these days: Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmed PSP was given the charge of Acting DG FIA, though for a few days only. He is an honest and straight officer.
His survival in FIA is a miracle. Why is he not posted as the Managing Director Police Foundation? Another honest officer, Mr Hamayun Shafi PSP, is rotting in the Establishment Division.
One may think that the PSP Association should support honest officers but there is no such tradition. Honesty is the best policy, but only when it suits a person. The currency of honesty as a value is decreasing in society but only social pressures can contain the demon of corruption in our society. Hence, we must try to revive the respect for this virtue, especially in professional and bureaucratic dealings.
