Three lakh children return to school in flood-hit regions

Over 280,626 children have returned to the 1,917 schools repaired by the government, with 38 percent of the students being girls, the Pakistan Early Education Recovery Working group informed through its newsletter on Saturday. Majority of the rehabilitated schools exist in KP, the report said, adding that at least 5,066 teachers, including 1,625 females were serving in these schools.
The report further states that 27,993 children including 9,225 girls and 35 teachers have benefited from Transitional School Structures (TSS) provided for 255 severely damaged schools in Punjab, Sindh Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In a bid to help and stimulate education activities, 4,704 temporary learning centers (TLCs) have been set up and are accessed by 349,801 children with 41 percent of girl learners.
The capacity building program for 14,497 teachers including 4,034 females have also been rolled out to ensure the delivery of quality education across Pakistan. These teachers have been oriented on various topics to ensure the improvement of their skills in managing their daily routines. A total of 8,236 PTC members including 2,287 females have benefited from capacity building activities for enhancing their roles and responsibilities.
