The public today is beset with many problems. If it’s not electricity loadshedding, it’s gas loadshedding. If it isn’t unemployment, it’s inflation. To top it all off is the security situation. A skim through the newspaper or surf through our channels is enough to make one pop antidepressants.
True, that the government does not have a magic wand but the fact that it appears not to give two hoots is much more damaging. Their flaunting of austerity, lack of concrete measures and indulging in politicking while the country starves may result in the public taking its vote elsewhere, come 2013.
