While exploiting the uncertain situation resulting from the ongoing wave of militancy, a large numbers of non-locals have found their way into the political administration of South Waziristan Agency, Pakistan Today has learnt.
The induction of non-locals in political administration of agency is illegal and in the violation of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor’s directives dated 21-05-1992 and 23-06-1996. According to these orders, only the locals can be appointed on all the slots of political administration, a source told this scribe.
Another source within the administration said that around 170 people hailing from settled areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had been appointed in violation of the said directives.
He said that a few months ago, the political agent in South Waziristan appointed two non-local — one as a constable and another as a junior clerk. Those two men were recruited by former political agent Shahab Ali, he added.
He said that the Tribal Clerk Union Political Administration (TCUPA) had lodged a case with Frontier Crime Regulation (FCR) court commissioner of Dera Ismail Khan.
A TCUPA delegation also met with newly- appointed political agent Atif-ur-Rehman and shared their grievances with him.
Pakistan Today tried to contact the political agent but was not available to comment on the issue
The TCUPA has also urged KP Governor Barrister Masood Kausar, FATA Chief Sectary Fazli Kareem Khattak to take notice of the illegal appointments.
