The Islamabad High Court (IHC)on Friday issued notice to the deputy superintendent of police (DSP) and the station house officer (SHO) of Sihala Police Station on a petition filed by a businessman, seeking court orders against police officers allegedly putting up obstacles in his business.
A single bench comprising Justice Muhammad Anwar Kasi resumed the hearing of case filed by Taj Afridi. The petitioner contended that he transported oil to NATO forces working in Afghanistan and had set up a depot on his land measuring 30 kanals located in the jurisdiction of Sihala Police Station .The petitioner said that had built a boundary wall around his oil supply depot to prevent any trespassing.
Munir Paracha, counsel for the plaintiff, told the court that on October 14, 2010, some unidentified terrorists attacked the parking place and torched NATO tankers and also killed innocent people. “Instead of arresting the terrorist involved in the attack, Sihala Police had arrested the manager of the oil depot who was later granted bail by an anti-terrorism court (ICT),” Paracha told the court.
The counsel said after the terrorists attack, the DSP and SHO Sihala have been harassing the petitioner and his staff. The petitioner prayed the court to direct the police officers not to harass him and his staff. After hearing the arguments, Justice Anwar Kasi issued notice to respondents and adjourned the hearing till June 18.
