Ban on pillion riding lifted

Routine life in the city has normalised with the Sindh government lifting the ban on pillion riding on Friday.
The Sindh Home Department had forbidden pillion riding on July 5 after incidents of targeted killings.
However, as tension in the city has decreased, the newly appointed Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Wassan announced lifting the ban.
Wassan was chairing a high-level meeting of the law enforcement agencies to review the overall situation of the city.
According to an estimate, there are between 600,000 and 800,000 motorcyclists across the city, majority of whom engage in pillion riding.
While the ban caused losses to the masses, transporters benefited a lot from it since, according to sources, transporters profited at least Rs 20 million a day.
