The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has so far exempted 7.4million senior citizens from the renewal of computerised national identity cards (CNIC) as they have reached the age of 65 and their cards are declared valid for lifetime.
NADRA Deputy Chairman Tariq Malik in a statement issued Friday said that if an applicant gets his CNIC renewed after the age of 56, his CNIC is declared valid for lifetime. So far NADRA has issued 22,000 CNICs printed with lifetime validity for senior citizens, he added. He further said that 3.28 million female and 4.11 million male senior citizens have been exempted from renewal of CNICs.
