Police frees 14 peasants from landlord’s jail


The court of Mirpurkhas District and Sessions Judge ensured freedom of 14 peasants, including women and children, from the private prison of a landlord on Thursday. The Kot Ghulam Muhammad police said that Allah Dino Machi had submitted an application in the court regarding illegal confinement of his family members by landlord Ahmad Khan Bhurgri.
Police said that on the orders of the court, a raid was conducted, resulting in the release of 14 peasants. Police also said that the freed peasants were produced before the court. After hearing their grievances, the court let them leave for home. The peasants said that they had been in illegal confinement for the past three years. The zamindar and his kamadars were making the peasants work in the field 18 hours a day.
